Jimmy Reiter: no frills blues

“Little Jimmy” has since established himself on the international stage and proved to be one of the most gifted singer-songwriters of his generation.

Reiter seems too modest in comparison to his talent, offering music that is firmly rooted in the tradition of blues and rhythm’n blues, delivered without frippery. His trademark !

Enjoying live performances, the Jimmy Reiter Band switches effortlessly from flowing improvisations to clearly defined arrangements, with a spontaneous and dynamic swing.

The combo, with the German Horst Bergmeyer (organ, piano), and Dutchmen Jasper Mortier (bass) and Björn Puls (drums), moves like a fish in water between different genres. It offers an exciting experience from which one emerges awake and refreshed. The epitome of the “cool”…

CD "LIVE" (2021), a damn classic !

With “Live” (2021, Pogo Pop Musik), Jimmy Reiter presents an almost 80-minute double LP on which he shines with his blazing and erudite playing.

For this fourth opus, recorded in 2020 at his annual concert in his hometown of Osnabrück and a radio show in Vienna (Austria) the previous spring, Reiter enlisted the help of Nico Dreier (keyboards), Jasper Mortier (bass), Björn Puls (drums) and a jubilant brass section consisting of Dmitry Suslov (tenor) and Jürgen Wieching (baritone).

The record confirms the maturity of a musician who has internalized the quintessence of his masters: T-Bone Walker, Earl Hooker, B.B. King, Ronnie Earl and Duke Robillard.

Shaped by years of stage experience, Reiter combines here everything that can be expected of him (swing, passion and feeling), stringing together nothing less than a damn classic with verve and authenticity.
