BONNY B.: FROM THE KHMERS ROUGES to B.B. KING.

BONNY B., born Su Pheaktra Bonnyface Chanmongkhon in Cambodia under the regime of Pol Pot, arrives, barely seven years old, in 1979 in Switzerland where his family seeks refuge from the Khmers Rouges. Nearly five decades later, he is a professional bluesman with an already incredible musical career behind him!

BONNY B., singer and harmonica player, takes since half a century his blues to stages all over Europe. With his brother Ice B. at the guitar, he records some twenty albums. He also opens a harmonica school and two clubs, creates a blues festival in Fribourg (Switzerland), all while running a radio station on his website.

Alongside this busy life, he introduces the blues to generations of middle and high school students throughout French-speaking Switzerland.

A qualified pastry chef and confectioner (!), BONNY B. embarks in 1998 on his pilgrimage to Chicago, the Mecca of the blues, where he shares the stage with Buddy Guy, Louisiana Red, John Primer, Bob Margolin, Larry Garner and Bob Stroger.

And in 2005 comes the ultimate recognition: Claude Nobs, founder and director of the renowned Montreux Blues and Jazz Festival (Switzerland), has him perform alongside B.B. King.

Since then, BONNY B. has given hundreds of concerts in twenty countries, participated in dozens of festivals and led countless workshops.
