MAX de bernardi & VERONICA sbergia
Acoustic blues
max & veronica: roots, commedia dell'arte style
The dauntless Max De Bernardi and the petulant Veronica Sbergia create an extraordinary musical experience, armed only with their voices and a handful of acoustic instruments.
The Milanese duo has crafted it’s roots repertoire by drawing on American music of the 1920s and 30s, thereby composing a shimmering rainbow of blues, jazz, ragtime, and swing.
Prepare to journey through musical chronicles of scams, sex, and alcohol, where the shadow play of crooks, loose women, and dharma bums unfolds.
Having won the 2013 European Blues Challenge, our Italians, hardened by necessity and showy by inclination, summon to their singular “commedia dell’arte” the spirits of Victoria Spivey, “Big Mama” Thornton, Fred McDowell, and Reverend Gary Davis.
